Our client is currently seeking an experienced Industrial Relations Manager to serve as a crucial link between the workforce and senior management. This role is dedicated to fostering genuine employee engagement, ensuring compliance with labour laws and company policies, and maintaining a harmonious factory atmosphere. You will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the approved manpower structure, grade bands, shift systems, and overtime frameworks, whilst holding managers accountable for people practices on the shop floor. You will report directly to the Chairman’s Office, maintaining a dotted line to the Managing Director, and working closely with the Plant Manager as a strategic operational partner. A key part of this role involves escalating issues where plant practices diverge from group values, labour law, or published policies, ensuring a compliant and motivated workforce at all times. Key prerequisites include a degree or HND in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Organisational Psychology, Business Administration, or a comparable discipline. Significant hands-on experience—between five and eight years—in people leadership within manufacturing settings, particularly in multi-shift environments such as printing, packaging, or similar industries, is essential. Proven expertise in running engagement and wellness initiatives in a shift environment, along with a solid understanding of relevant legislation including Act 651, SSNIT, and PAYE, is vital. A demonstrated willingness to uphold laws and policies firmly, without wavering under pressure, forms the backbone of this role. Candidates should be comfortable being present across multiple shifts, demonstrating visible leadership and fostering a collaborative atmosphere. Strong skills in discipline, confidentiality, and precise record-keeping—such as rosters, overtime files, and SSNIT records—are non-negotiable. The ideal applicant will communicate effectively, delivering concise, readable People Packs for executive review, and be tactful yet firm when managing grievances and wellness matters.
The successful candidate will typically possess a robust background in HR or Industrial Relations, ideally with recent hands-on experience in factory or shift-work environments where engagement and compliance are critical. Education should be backed by a history of implementing sustainable people practices, with a proven track record of making tough but fair decisions. An accomplished professional in this space will be someone who consistently demonstrates integrity, resilience, and a People-first mindset, capable of balancing operational demands with employee wellbeing. Achievements might include turning around engagement scores, streamlining payroll compliance, or leading successful wellness initiatives in demanding settings.
